My Fauji Trunk-Kalia !!
As a kid whenever I used to see my father’s fauji trunk , I used to feel ki yaar when would I get a trunk of my own which would have my name on it and not my father's name. I remember painting an old trunk only to write my name on it which was only used to store my toys.
Such was my craze...
Growing up I was lucky that I cleared my NDA Written followed by SSB. Then I was even luckier to get my father’s squadron- India . Proud to be an Injun always . Just after the kit issue and bike issue , we were given these trunks .
Finally jiska sapna dekhta thaa ,woh sachai main Badal raha thaa.
A painter had come especially to the squadron just to write our names and academy number on it. It was a great feeling to finally have a trunk of my own with my name and number on it.
Over the next three years this trunk “Kalia” saw me become a “Chakka” from a scared puny “Ikki” . From using it in family socials as a table to eat food to putting it over the head and running around the squadron . It saw everything , probably too much.
When I had to come home at the end I had a plane ticket with me which I ultimately decided to get it cancelled only because I didn’t want to leave my trunk “Kalia” in squadron. We had done everything together, he was like my buddy . A train ticket was booked eventually and “Kalia” too came home along with me. Too this day I keep “Kalia” under my bed .
Thank you "Kalia" for everything ,luv u always .
